Zeles Vargas

Zeles Vargas is a 4th year Anthropology student at Washington University in St. Louis. His research investigates how the combination of Argentina’s pro-LGBT investments and everyday queer refuge affect gay men’s quotidian world-building and their struggle to survive. Specifically, while we know the precarity and structural vulnerabilities gay men are affected by it is unknown how a history of focused political and economic investment and queer precarity combine to form militarized, commercial, and racialized forms of queer refuge and living.

 

Zeles Vargas es estudiante de Antropología de cuarto año en la Universidad de Washington en St. Louis. Su investigacion es sobre la combinación de la politica pro-LGBT de Argentina y el refugio queer, afecta la construcción del mundo de los hombres homosexuales y su lucha por sobrevivir. Específicamente, si bien conocemos la precariedad y las vulnerabilidades estructurales que afectan a los hombres homosexuales, se desconoce cómo una historia de inversión política y económica enfocada y la precariedad queer se combinan para formar refugios militarizados, comerciales y racializados.
