Research Interests
Understanding a long-term perspective of human-environment relations is key to developing the knowledge of sustainability and resilience relevant to climate crises. In this regard, my research aims to explore how social and environmental relationships are affected by changing water availability and how people have mitigated this through water management technologies. Specifically, the research investigates the formation of the hydraulic landscape of medieval Central Asia by looking into the environmental foundations and social factors leading to the technological choice for building water facilities.
