I am an anthropological archaeologist interested in the origin and eventual abandonment of nucleated settlements in the Bronze Age Eurasian Steppe. My research focuses on urbanization, the evolving socio-environmental role of copper metallurgy, and inter-community violence. I specialize in the intersection between field archaeology and geospatial techniques including satellite image analysis, lidar, environmental modeling, settlement geography, and spatial statistics.
