I am interested in the intersection of medicinal plant use and conservation in traditional communities. My research has taken me to the barrios of Nicaragua, through the Andes in Peru and deep in the endemic rainforests of Madagascar where I am always asking the question, “is it medicinal?” Outside of coordinating the Medicine and Society program and advising Anthropology undergraduates, I teach a class at the Missouri Botanical Garden about native Missouri medicinal plants and like to cheer on St. Louis sports teams with my husband and two daughters.
