Kenneth Chiou is a biological anthropologist and graduated with his Ph.D. in 2017 from Washington University in St. Louis after successfully defending his dissertation, entitled "Population Genomics of a Baboon Hybrid Zone in Zambia". He will soon begin a postdoctoral position at the University of Washington, where his research will focus on two projects related to functional genomics in nonhuman primates. The first project will examine genetic adaptations to high altitude in geladas, which inhabit exclusively highland areas of Ethiopia. The second project will investigate social influences on the rate of aging in the rhesus macaque brain. For the latter project, he was awarded a Genetic Approaches to Aging Training Grant through the University of Washington.
